Rules and Regulations

Rules:

Included in every derby kit there are instructions with rules.  

• Each car may not exceed 5 ounces.  We will weigh all cars on the same scale to ensure no one has a unfair advantage.  Scouts that are over weight will be able to take their car home for modifications.  

• Adding additional weight to the car is acceptable as long as each car does not exceed the 5 ounce restriction. 

• Dry lubrications such as graphite are acceptable.  No liquid lubrications will be allowed.  

• BSA Axels and Wheels are required. 

• Polishing axels is acceptable.  

• Dimensions should not exceed height of 5 inches, width of 2 3/4 inches, length of 7 inches.  Each car also needs 3/8 inch clearance underneath the car.  These are general rules to ensure cars fit through the timing gate and do not interfere with other cars. 

• Please put your scouts name on the bottom of their car.  Masking tape or a label will be fine.
