Packing Guide
Curious what you need to pack for an overnight at summer camp? Here is a good starter list. Packing for a overnight campout is always dependent on the weather and this list can be adjusted accordingly. Don't forget your BSA Medical Part A,B, & C. Here is a list to get you started.
Camping Equipment:
Sleeping bag
Pillow (optional)
8x10 Tarp & Rope to cover the tent (optional)
Sleeping pad or air mattress for cot (optional)
Rope for a clothing line to hang wet clothing and towels
Plastic tote or plastic trunk to store clothing in works the best. It keeps it dry and organized.
Plastic trash bag for wet clothing
Clothing:
Cub Scout Uniform (worn for campfire)
Cub Scout T-Shirt or other outdoor shirts
Shorts
Pants (if cold weather is expected, it can get chilly at night at Hawk Mountain)
Pajamas or sweathpants for sleeping
Sweatshirt (Mornings and evenings can be chilly at Hawk Mountain)
Rain jacket or poncho
Jacket or coat (if colder weather)
Underwear
Socks
Hiking shoes or durable shoes
Hat
Extra socks, shoes, or other clothing in case they get wet
Swimsuit
Beach towel or fast drying towel
Toilet Kit
Toothbrush, toothpaste, comb
Deodorant for our older scouts
Towel, wash cloth, soap, shampoo (optional)
Daily Gear
Backpack
Water bottle
Flashlight/ headlamp & extra batteries
Sunscreen
Insect Repellent
Whistle
Sunglasses
Optional Gear
Lawn or camp chairs
Binoculars
Fishing gear
Notebook & pencil
Battery pack for charging phones (adults)
Cards or small social games for free time
Small battery lantern
Money for the trading post. They usually have slushies, candy. shirts, and some other trinkets.
